This week we dove into all of our units. Students worked more with the Learner Profile attributes by complimenting each other using the profile traits. They learned that we can communicate in different ways and they were challenged to build a popsicle stick house in their groups without speaking to each other. Some groups were unsure if it was better to talk or not!
In math, students were exploring patterns on number grids and playing some number guessing games using the number line.
We really got into Daily 5 this week. Because students used the practices of Daily 5 last year, they easily fell back into the routines and got right into reading and writing. It's been wonderful getting to know students as readers and writers.
Looking forward to another great week next week!
Now some words of wisdom from the kids!
"In PE we exercised. It was fun! In assembly we learned about the ECAs. We made popsicle stick houses. We made them without saying anything. When we are not talking it was harder but when we are talking we got lots of ideas. But I like more challenging." - Taiyo
"I liked making I Am Unique fish and writing. The popsicle stick houses we had to be silent and try to share our ideas without talking. I was excited because I like it to be quiet but I also like to talk. In Daily 5 I like the writing piece." - Ayesha
