Student exploration of 3D shapes continued this week. Models and creations were build to show symmetry, edges, and vertices. Students really had to focus on counting the number of edges (toothpicks) to make a model! Integration of technology and literacy this week was evident through our work with images. Students really noted the use of universal signs and drew up their own. It was exciting to work with Mr. Gallagher to learn about creating signs in Google Drawing. Those signs will be posted in student online portfolios. Students also spent time examining images from stories, noting how much you can tell from a picture and that different stories can be created from the same image. Students shared the drafts of the stories they are writing, showing an improvement in speaking and listening presentation skills. They also gave feedback to each other, paying attention to the writing of more complex sentences using connecting words. That work will continue!
