We started our last unit of inquiry this week: Sharing the Planet! We have been studying some challenging words like ecosystem and organisms! We studied pictures of different ecosystems and determined that ecosystems are made up of living and nonliving things. We noticed there are many living things on the playground that live in their own little ecosystems. We found a beetle that looked like wood and some tiny snails. We've been trying to protect them. This week we also continued learning about fractions and equal sharing. We learned that there are different ways to read and show fractional parts. We also started swimming this week! We are excited for that next week again, and our field trip to observe nature too.

This week we were busy sharing our learning from the year at Student-Led Conferences. "I showed my mom around on a classroom tour. I showed her the Daily 5; I showed her writing." - Yoojin "My mom and I talked about what I learned in the unit like patterns and images express images. I focused mostly on the station at math. And then I brought her on a class tour." - Ada "In student-led conference me and my mom were talking the Chinese quizlet that we do in Mandarin. I was talking about my portfolio and my "Bagels" book and it grew and grew until it got 25 orders." - Aaqil We had a great wrap up to Unit 5 Images Express Meaning with parents coming in to view our Art Gallery.
"I showed some pictures to my mom. I showed her art by Gustave Caillbotte." - Chihiro "I showed my poster of Edgar Degas to my mom and my little sister. I taught them about Edgar Degas's like the things he painted." - Nanami "We found out the answers for Minute to Win It. Minute to Win It was about different grades doing different activities. Newton won and now Somerset is winning only by five points. It's going to be a close race in the Swim Gala!" - Ronen and Yoojin
PS - "Will Somerset stay in the lead?" "At the beginning of the week we started planning the story mountain. Then we drafted on the storyboard. After we finished the storyboard we created the characters and settings. And today we did Stop Motion with Mr. Gallagher to make a movie." - Satoshi Its amazing that we are in the final stretch of grade two. It was short week back from spring break, but it was still busy. We started looking at different poetry books, making lists of noticings. We continued exploring patterns in math! These Groovy Grids really tickled our brains! And we had a "Minute To Win It" house event! Our game was very challenging!
